Facilitator Spotlight: SOMER!

We had the week off from classes, so instead of a Rehearsal update, this week we're introducing you to one of our Fantastic, Fabulous, Friendly, Fearless, FACILITATORS....

Somer Benson

When Is Your Birthday?: July 26

Tell us a bit about your performing background: "The performing bug bit me early in life, but really started to flourish in High School. I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in CA. I’ve been working on and off in Chicago since 2007 -theatre and some on camera projects. I’vebeen a Guest (teaching) Artist at Columbia College since 2009."

Pick your favorite: Acting, Singing, or Dancing. "I love acting, but if I could go back in time, I would absolutely train more as a singer and dancer."

Who is your favorite actor/performer? "Oh gosh. No all time favorite. I really appreciate the work of: Jessica Chastain, Kevin Spacey, Kristen Wiig, Taraji P Henson, Kyle Chandler, Michael B Jordan, Jeff Perry, Michelle Williams, Kate Winslet, and the All Stars of SYTYCD."

What do you like about them? "No half measures. They give it their all. They bring truth to their performance. Their storytelling moves me."

How Long Have You Been With ABLE? "February 2015"

Favorite ABLE memory? "During our performance at the Ruth Page Center, when the Peace Signs were far upstage singing, “Believe In The Impossible”. I took a moment to soak it in, briefly glanced around….so much pure joy."

Somer dropped in The Red Queen(s) for our production of Adventures in Wonderland in May 2015. This montage shows her in action dropping-in our ensemble:

Thanks to Somer and all of our Facilitators for the time and heart they share with us!
