Here are our upcoming sessions:
A Crash Course in Disability Awareness and Sensory Styles
Wednesday April 24
6:30pm-8pm CST
Zoom
An individuals’ experience of their disability is shaped by the community around them. It’s up to all of us to build supportive environments. In this interactive session led by A.B.L.E. Founder & Executive Artistic Director Katie Yohe, we'll explore how language and attitudes about disability have shifted over time. We’ll also share an overview of the 8 senses (yes EIGHT!), and how you can anticipate and support the needs of neurodiverse individuals. Whether you work in audience services, in the classroom, casting, or just as a citizen of the world, you’ll come away with a deeper awareness of disability history and how you can work towards an Affirmative Model of Disability in your community.
Who is it for: Anybody who interacts with people with disabilities, and is curious to deepen their awareness.
We’re excited to learn with you!
