#giveABLE2019

A.B.L.E. is kicking off the holiday season on Giving Tuesday with a monthlong campaign! #giveABLE2019 will launch at at the stroke of midnight on December 3, 2019, and end at 11:59pm on December 31st with a goal of raising $15,000.

The 2019-2020 is shaping up to be one of our biggest yet. So far this season, we…

  • Devised 2 original plays with our core ensembles

  • Developed new curricula for specialized workshops on topics like mask, devising, and character building.

  • Strengthened our friendship with the UK-based company Frantic Assembly in a weekend of physical theatre workshops.

  • Broadened our outreach efforts, leading one-time workshops and longer residencies for local organizations that serve individuals with developmental differences.

Will you help A.B.L.E. finish the season strong?

This spring, A.B.L.E. will host 2 ensembles for teens (ages 14-21) and one for adults (ages 22+). The teens will collaborate on an original adaptation of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors hosted by Chicago Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier. The adult ensembles will put their own spin on Shakespeare by devising original stories with some of The Bard’s most recognizable props.

We can’t bring these shows to the stage without you! Here’s what your dollars can do:

$35 = one hour of rehearsal time

$160 = a pair of teaching artists for one rehearsal

$375 = sponsor registration fees for an ensemble member in need

$500 = costumes for the teen ensemble

$1500 = theatre rental fees for adult ensemble’s performance

Our minimum fundraising goal of $15,000 for #giveABLE2019 will ensure A.B.L.E.’s ensembles have space, supplies, and support for their spring shows. If we surpass this goal, additional funds will not only increase the production value of these performances, but will also support our other program initiatives including skill-building workshops, guest artist collaborations, outreach opportunities, and professional development opportunities for our teaching team.

We are counting on you!

Funds raised during #giveABLE2019 will allow A.B.L.E. to keep registration fees low for all participants. By supporting A.B.L.E., you secure a vital social and creative outlet for individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental differences. Together, we can build platforms for everyone to share who they are and all they are A.B.L.E. to do!

Give a little. Give a lot. Give what you are A.B.L.E.!
